Chiropractic Care
What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care is a science, art, and philosophy that is based on the diagnosis and manipulation of misaligned joints in the body, especially those found in the spine. Joints that don’t move normally throughout their range of motion irritate the soft tissue in the area, which becomes inflamed. This inflammation puts pressure on nearby nerves, which we interpret as pain. Chiropractors restore proper motion to joints, which allows the inflammation to subside, and the body can return to its natural state.
Chiropractic is a very diverse profession, with almost as many techniques as there are practitioners. All are interested in reducing pain and restoring function to the body. Some practices focus more on soft tissue work or nutritional advice, and the best practices incorporate all of these facets of care into the patient experience. The chiropractic adjustment will release endorphins in the body, resulting in a feeling of relaxation, and a reduction in pain. Soft tissue work will remove muscular imbalances in the body which can contribute to dysfunctional joints. Nutritional recommendations will work on the body systemically to achieve the same goals of reduced pain and increased functionality. To neglect any of these approaches is to limit the progress of the patient.
